Dear Readers,
Hello! Happy New Year! Welcome to our January 2009 issue of Psychic Times. How do you like our new look? Isn’t it nice? Doug has been busy redesigning our layout and has given us a makeover for the New Year with lots of additional features. I think it looks fabulous, I love the colors and you can tell how much time and energy went into this new design. He really tried to think of everything, the archives are easier to access, we have added a Moon Phase calendar, there is LOTS of additional information to explore and knowing Doug, he will continue to fine tune and come up with more ideas to make Psychic Times look even better.
I hope you had wonderful holidays and are working on your New Year’s resolutions to keep them realistic and attainable. Sun in Capricorn encourages us to aspire to more of what we want in life and to try harder. With a powerful eclipse coming up the last week of this month, we will be compelled to make changes whether we intend to or not, so set your intentions now. It’s better to have an idea of your destination when you begin a journey and each New Year is a journey in and of itself. Read my Horoscope column this month for information on the Eclipse with the New Moon in Aquarius along with the upcoming Mercury Retrograde period which impacts us all for most of this month.
Join me on my Journey to Tulum-Land of the Maya. In this month’s Eye-Opener I will take you with me on my visit to this impressive ancient Mayan ruin strategically located high on a cliff above the beautiful Caribbean Sea. It truly is something that must be seen to really appreciate, so whether you have been there before or just are curious, be sure to read my article about Tulum. It was a day to remember and I am very excited to share my experience with you.
I returned home yesterday from my wonderful trip to Florida and the Caribbean. We loved being in the warmest spot in the US while there was record cold, really made me know we planned our trip for a reason. We celebrated the Solstice and enjoyed a quiet no fuss Christmas on the beach. It is really breathtaking and relaxing to be across the street from the ocean knowing there is snow on the ground at home. There are few places I like as much as Lauderdale by the Sea and I seriously considered not coming back ha ha. No matter how long a vacation may be, it is never long enough but with the New Year upon us, it is time to practice what I preach and follow up on my own resolutions too. Now that I am home, there is so much to do and as soon as I put the finishing touches on our January issue here, it is time to take action and check some of those projects I have procrastinated on off of my list. Mercury retrograde time is great for organization and taking care of unfinished business.

Everyone has heard of or read something about the Mayans and their culture but until you see the ruins contrasted against the deep blue Caribbean Sea, and get a glimpse of what it may have looked like centuries ago, you can’t really comprehend how amazing and advanced they really were. I always felt drawn to the Maya as a child in school and felt a connection I could not quite understand. The pictures of the ruins I saw felt vaguely familiar to me but I did not think I would ever see them for myself.
My journey to Tulum began on a cruise ship; actually it probably started with the first Psychic Cruise in 2004. We had planned to go then and perhaps to channel there. My guides had given me a firm NO on this at the time and it turned out that excursion, while taken by some of the folks who sailed with us was not meant to become a group event. I personally did not want to open up to the energies there since I had heard so much about human sacrifice and actually had a lot of misinformation from others. Keep in mind that Maya to the Eastern world means “illusion” so there was some energy for me to cut through before I visited this land for more than a trip to the beach and some shopping while on a cruise. So instead of going to the ruins that first time, a small group of us went to Playa Mia Beach and had a great time in the Sun. I have been to Cozumel a couple of times since then and never visited the ruins, it seemed appropriate to go this year, with things the way they are in the world now, who knows if this opportunity would present itself to me again in the future. I believe that things happen when they are meant to and this was the right time to make that journey back in time to the land of the Maya. We booked our excursion through the cruise line since it was the safest way to travel the considerable distance over to the mainland by ferry boat and south on a bus tour to Tulum.
From the island of Cozumel we boarded the Mexican Federal Ferry to the mainland at Playa del Carmen. Since our trip was arranged through the cruise line the ferry picked us up right at the International port rather than having to catch it in the center of San Miguel. Cozumel is really busy this day; there are 7 cruise ships here. I was glad not to be a part of what promised to be a really crowded day ashore and was looking forward to the trip to Tulum. The ferry ride lasts 30 minutes or so, and today it’s a bumpy one. A flat screen TV blares out commercials advertising different tourist attractions and shopping opportunities in Spanish. The instructions posted are all in Spanish too, which is to be expected since it is Mexico, but it did really drive home the fact that we were in a different country and on an adventure. Mind over matter helped me through the worst case of seasickness I had ever experienced, the sound of others getting sick as we bumped and pitched and bounced on the waves even on this huge ferry boat almost got to me. When I heard the others, I asked for one of their purple plastic bags, just in case, but thankfully made it through the ride without needing to use it. Putting cool bottled water on my face really helped a lot but I remembered being told not to drink water when feeling seasick as this will usually bring the water right back up. I made a mental note to bring a packet or two of soda crackers with me if I ever made this trip on the ferry again. The water changed from a deep murky blue to that beautiful clear Caribbean blue that is so gorgeous that Crayola named one of their crayon colors after it.
As we pulled in to Playa Del Carmen the water changed to a dirty green and although it was pretty and colorful on shore, most of what you could see was condos, timeshares and hotels. As we walked from the dock to where we boarded our bus to the Tulum beach break, the excursion we had chosen, I had to laugh at the huge prominent billboard on the shop that said Tequila & Drugstore. Welcome to Mexico, of course there was a Starbucks and a dozen or so bars and restaurants along with lots of brightly colored souvenir shops and the ubiquitous Del Sol store that sells items like t-shirts, Frisbees and nail polish that changes colors in the Sun. Even though it was just after 9am the shops were open and business was bustling. It looked interesting but we had to hustle off to our respective buses depending upon which tour you were taking. Playa Del Carmen was a Mayan city but is actually only about 20 years old as a tourist spot and ferry port. Over the past two decades it has grown from a sleepy little fishing village of 500 people to a rapidly growing tourist spot with a population of over 15,000. We were met by our bi-lingual guide Alejandro and boarded our bus for the 40 mile drive to Tulum. He conducted the tour in both English and Spanish since there were some people from South America and from Spain in our group. It was very interesting to hear the same thing in both languages.
Tulum “the city of the Dawn” was built in honor of the Sun God, the temples were built for navigation and observation of astronomical events. In the carvings on the buildings and temples the solstices, equinoxes and Sun movements are represented side by side with the figure of the rattlesnake. The rattlesnake was a solar symbol and represented the equinoxes. The old city was erected on a huge natural platform made up of big cliffs that face the sea offering natural protection. The rest of the city is walled; the Mayan inhabitants took refuge here from other tribes. The Yucatan peninsula has the North Caribbean Sea on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other side. In the 1500s when the Conquistadors came from Spain, Mayans rescued the Spaniards from the ocean where they had shipwrecked. When the Spaniards asked them where they were they replied “Yucatan” which in Mayan meant we hear you but we don’t understand. So the land was called Yucatan when actually to the Mayans it was known as the Land of deer and turkeys. There was lots of wildlife back then but the indigenous white tailed deer and jaguars are now endangered species.
The Land of Mayan encompassed over 140,000 square miles including the countries now known as Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and the 5 Mexican states of Yucatan, Compeche, Quintana Roo, Tabasco and Chiapas. It was an independent nation in the pre-Colombian period and still could be due to the oil or petrol available on the gulf side. There are many different cultures in Mexico since it is such a large country, the Mayan civilization is older than the Aztecs, and the Maya were more intelligent and advanced. To this day their origin is not exactly known, some scholars believe they are of Andean origin, others think they arrived from the North following a route along the Atlantic coast, some feel they came from across the Sea and some feel they are the descendants of other cultures. They were Astrologers and Astronomers who were able to make remarkable discoveries without the use of modern equipment. According to legend, the Mayan region had emerged from the waters and its name, Maya, meaning “footprint of water” originated from this belief.
In Tulum it self there was once as many as 40,000-50,000 inhabitants, the height of this civilization was from approximately 900-1500 AD. The 60 or so buildings still standing are but a quarter of how many were here in the past. The wall of protection around the city helped to keep them safe and they used the reef to protect against nature, hurricanes. This is not the largest of the Mayan ruins, Chichen Itza is actually much bigger with better preserved buildings but what is remarkable about Tulum is the location. This once thriving Maya city-fort is built on a cliff above the sea commanding a magnificent view of the Caribbean. Just by looking at the ruins and the beach below takes you back in time to evoke visions of the people who once lived here.
Most of their religion was based on astrology and they were fanatically religious. The Mayan cosmology is very complex and is still being studied and rediscovered to this day. They watched the stars, planets and eclipses, there were 3 different calendars, according to our guide. The solar calendar consisted of 13 months of 20 days each for a total of 260 days in a year. The fertility calendar had 360 days with 5 unlucky days; each leap year has 20 extra days. A new era occurs every 52 years. The Mayan base 20 number system was binary as computers are in the present time, 13 is a lucky number since there were believed to be 13 heavens and 9 hells. There are four original Mayan books left in existence, one is in Mexico City, one in Madrid, one in Paris and one in Germany. The Mayan bibles were made of stucco with accordion pages with hieroglyphics that looked like faces and read from left to right and top to bottom. Our guide offered a codex or stucco book in the traditional style for purchase that gave more complete information on the Mayan calendar and interpretation of the included personal stela based on your individual birth information, containing your own symbols and printed on the same amate bark paper used by the Mayans. We ordered one codex with my chart and an extra stela or chart with my mate’s birth symbols too; it was his birthday the next day so I gifted both of us. Our Calendario Maya was ready for us on the bus at the end of the tour and is a meaningful souvenir of a very special journey to a place that seemed quite familiar to us both even though we had never been their before in this lifetime.
When we reached Tulum, most of our group chose to pay to take the optional tram to the ruins rather than walking over a mile, it saved us 20 minutes each way and we only had about 2 hours at the archeological site. As we walked through a pyramid shaped arch through the wall that surrounds this once thriving city, it felt like a portal and we were transported back in time. El Castillo or the Castle is a three level tower of rock and is the tallest construction in Tulum; it was first seen by the Spaniards upon their arrival to the Yucatan coast in 1518. It stands above the beautiful beach below, in it the Sun God reigns with the rattlesnake. There are different shaped openings in the walls for each of the solstices and equinoxes, they were architecturally designed to show the Sun’s light through each specific shaped opening only on those exact days each year. It is amazing to think of how they would have calculated this construction but this natural keeper of time is still accurate. It is a quite a sight to see. The two windows were also designed to guide friendly ships through the treacherous coral reefs that surround the bay at Tulum. At night when the Sun could not be seen lanterns were placed to assist with navigation, if ships could see the light they aimed right for the middle and were able to safely navigate through the coral. This ancient pre-Hispanic port was considered of major importance in coastal navigation on the Caribbean coast in those days.
Below the steep cliffs behind the Castle is a winding stairway to the beach below. You can understand why they built their city here it is a most beautiful beach, and today you can sunbathe as the Mayans did on this Mediterranean style topless beach in the exquisite crystalline waters of the Caribbean. Looking down on the tourists on the beach we longed to join them but had a long way to go to complete our tour. Our time on the beach would come later in the day.
The Temple of the Frescoes is the most outstanding of all the temples in Tulum and shows strong Toltec characteristics. It served as an observatory, its main façade overlooks the west to better observe the Sun. They could accurately measure the duration of day and night and obtain many other important scientific data they put into practical use in their daily life. The techniques employed for carving and painting the frescoes was very advanced, all the symbols and colors used had very specific meaning and purpose. The theme of fertility is repeated over and over and the frescoes depict much information about the Maya’s way of life. The Temple of the Descending God is covered with frescoes depicting religious scenes with representations of different Gods, particularly those related to the Sun, rain and maize, contained in frames made of entwined bodies of snakes. There are several large homes or palaces where the more important people had lived, quite a few other temples, cisterns, habitational platforms, ceremonial platforms, guard towers, tombs and of course the huge walls of the city that served to protect it from being invaded. Our guide gave us a lot of information about Mayan life and religious ceremonies including the human sacrifices that occurred there. The rites were performed on the equinoxes. The resin copal was burned during ceremonies to help the souls of the sacrificed to reach heaven. The Maya believed in trinity with the theme of morning, noon, evening; past, present, future; born, live, die. They saw life as a series of cycles and honored nature along with marking the passage of time.
Our time at Tulum passed too quickly and we most certainly will return. There are many other ruins in the immediate area and we would like to see them all but none are as spectacular or striking. Our tour continued a few miles south to a private club on the beach where we were served a buffet lunch from an open air tropical restaurant complete with hammocks hanging from palm trees. We had time for a swim in the warm Caribbean Sea before heading back to the ferry at Playa Del Carmen; the ride back was much smoother. It was a wonderful and enlightening day that truly took us back in time to experience the majesty of this beautiful natural setting and get a glimpse of an advanced civilization which occupied this area many centuries ago. It is a day well spent and well worth the time. There is so much to know and learn about the Maya; in this article we have barely scratched the surface. I feel compelled to learn more about them and their cosmology particularly with the important date of December 21, 2012 coming so soon. When we asked our native Mayan-descent guide about this date which is known as the end of the Mayan calendar and asked him what would happen then, he replied “the world will not end, a new calendar will be made, and it is not the end but rather a new beginning and a new direction.” If you ever get an opportunity to visit Tulum, take it, it is an experience you will never forget.
I hope you enjoyed accompanying me on my expedition to Tulum; I would not have taken the time nor had the discipline to take notes on this trip or do so much research unless I was doing it to share with you. So thank you readers for giving me the incentive to record and share this extraordinary journey with you. I invite your questions or feedback and am interested to know what you would like to see covered in a future Eye-Opener article. Contact me at editor@psychictimes.com.Since we have an eclipse in the erratic sign of Aquarius later this month, February’s subject will be a surprise. I have quite a few ideas and irons in the fire so check this column out next month to see what Spirit guides me to share.
Blessings,
Selene
We will start the New Year off by giving a warm welcome to one of our most popular new readers, Psychic Brown Eyes or Cindy as her many devoted clients have come to know her and call her by her first name. Join us in getting to know this very wise and friendly reader, let’s learn how her own spiritual journey has led her to gaining the valuable insight and inspiration she so readily shares with others.
Selene: Hello and Congratulations on being chosen as our first Psychic of the month for 2009. You have been with us on Psychic Access for over six months now and seem to be a favorite of many of our clients. How do you like working with us so far?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I really enjoy working for Psychic Access! It has been great to connect with so many wonderful people. I just love my clients and feel a strong friendly connection with my regulars. It is a pleasure to be able to work from home and reach so many people to help them. I wanted to say, Thank you Doug for giving me this opportunity to work on this Network. I have been busier than I ever expected to be and really enjoy reading on Psychic Access. And, thank you Selene for being able to decipher my verbiage to make sense of what I am trying to say. LOL.
Selene: Thank you so much, we sure like having you with us too. I always love to hear the stories about how Spirit seems to draft us into this work. I know you waited a long time before you felt ready to move forward even though you have been on a spiritual path for much longer than you have been doing this work professionally. Please tell us more about how you became a Professional Psychic. How did you come to work on Psychic Access?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I was introduced to Psychic Access from my Best Friend Mystic Shelley. She also really encouraged me to start doing this work professionally as well. I did wait until I felt ready to really accept the responsibility of helping others but I have always been the kind of person who helped everyone I know with their problems. I am a good listener and have always been intuitive as well, kind of a natural psychologist you might say.
Selene: You have a very strong connection with your guides and have four main guides. Please tell us more about them and how you came to make this connection.
Psychic Brown Eyes: I had to learn how to contact my guides; they instructed me about how to consult them when needed rather than my just receiving random information. As my relationship with these guides blossomed they also showed me how to work with them to help others connect with the information they were seeking. My guides consciously connected with me when I began to seriously incorporate my Spiritual work with the Meditation. Of course they had always been there but meditation is what really helped me to open up to my natural gifts.
Selene: What do you recommend to our readers who would like to deepen their connection with their own guides?
Psychic Brown Eyes: Meditation and listening to music seemed to help me the most. I learned to keep my area where I do my meditation clear of negativity. I continue to do a lot of reading and learning about my spiritual interests, this helps me to stay focused on my reading for clients. I also have a lot of crystals in my home to help amplify the energy and help me stay clear and grounded.
Selene: Since you are so empathic and sensitive, how do you prepare for your readings? What do you suggest to people who are empathic like you are to do to protect themselves and not feel overwhelmed?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I keep myself grounded with regular meditation; it is just a part of my regular routine now like bathing and keeping the house clean. Clearing my personal space with meditation helps me to stay grounded.
Selene: You also specialize in Romance and Relationship readings. What makes you so effective with this aspect of life and how do you help your clients who are seeking guidance about relationships?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I look at my own relationships from a positive perspective and keep my heart in the right place. I believe we’ve got to meet each other half way for relationships to work. I also believe that being honest with each other is what keeps communication open and leads to long term relationships. Although I love to help people with any concerns, it does seem that most of my clients contact me about romance and relationships. I tell it like it is and I feel that is why people trust me and continue to contact me repeatedly for guidance about their relationships.
Selene: As a Sagittarius you are naturally inclined towards seeking and knowing the truth. How do you help people to find their own truth? Your honesty is also much appreciated by your clients, how do you handle having to deliver news that they may not want to hear?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I focus on each call and am fully present at the time of their reading. I believe in treating my clients like a friend and really being there for them. I also give them honest and direct answers to their questions.
Selene: What do you suggest as a form of regular spiritual practice to help people through difficult times?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I advise people to ask their Guides and Angels for help about what their concerns are and then let it go. Write down what you would like in your life, talk to your Guides through journaling and of course, pray.
Selene: This definitely is a tough time for many right now but there are hopefully some positive changes to come. Would you care to share some personal predictions or insight you may have about 2009?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I see that 2009 will be a great year although it will be full of surprises. More jobs will be available, and finances will start to improve for people. Relationships will be easier too. To me it just looks to be all around a much better year.
Selene: I understand you are both a Mom and a Grandma. Does anyone else in your family have psychic abilities too? Were your talents and sensitivities nurtured as a child? How do you help your own kids and grandchildren to honor and accept their own gifts?
Psychic Brown Eyes: Yes, my Granddaughter Hallie at the age of 5 is very in tune. I was 8 years old when my own abilities started to blossom so I do understand what it feels like to be a sensitive child. When I am with them and get feelings about things, sometimes I like to talk to them about it before it happens. I want them to accept this about themselves and about me so I let them into my psychic world as much as possible.
Selene: Have you always lived in Georgia? What do you like most about your home state?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I love living here! It is such a pretty State and the people are really genuinely friendly. In fact that is what I like most about Georgia is that our visitors always feel like they are at home.
Selene: Sagittarius loves to travel, where would you like to visit if you had the opportunity to go anywhere?
Psychic Brown Eyes: I would like to go to Italy. Of all the places I can think of, I would most love to go there. From the pictures I have seen, everything there looks like a postcard.
Selene: This is the part that is unscripted, what else would you like us to know about you?
Psychic Brown Eyes: That I will never tell you what you want to hear, that what I tell you is what my guides are telling me to tell you. I will always be gentle with your feelings but will always tell you the truth.
Selene: Any other words of wisdom or insight to share?
Psychic Brown Eyes: That nothing is beyond your reach as long as you have faith and want it for the right reasons.
Selene: Thank you so much for your time and energy. It has been a pleasure to interview you and I know our readers are grateful to have this chance to get to know you. When is the best time to find you on Psychic Access?
Psychic Brown Eyes: You can find me on Psychic Access every evening. I want to give everyone a chance to speak with me so look for me each night. I would like to wish a Happy New Year to all!
I hope you have enjoyed this lighthearted and uplifting interview with Psychic Brown Eyes. Once you get to know Cindy, you will feel like she is a long time trusted friend and will gain much from her wisdom and advice. Look for her each evening on Psychic Access. She looks forward to meeting you there to offer you a reading based on truth and positive guidance.

Highlights: The energies shift as the New Year begins, Mercury moves into rebellious and independent Aquarius on the 1st, bringing us innovative ideas for a fresh start. As the planet of communication prepares to go retrograde on the 11th, it is a good time to take care of business and prepare for what you want to manifest. If there is something new you wish to begin or a major purchase to be made, do it at the beginning of January or wait until next month after Mercury goes direct on the 1st. Saturn in Virgo still opposes Uranus in Pisces for most of the month, we will feel compelled to change the status quo and will not take our good fortune for granted. Those New Year’s resolutions are made during Sun in Capricorn time for a reason, we are given that extra impetus to make positive changes and make a fresh start now. Loving Venus enters spiritual Pisces on the 3rd; this will help to deepen relationships and creates greater mutual understanding. Expansive Jupiter enters Aquarius on the 5th, this transit will last for a year, your best luck will come from taking a chance and not setting limitations on what you wish to manifest. Believe in yourself and your powers of creation for best results this year. The Full Moon in Cancer on the 10th is a potentially overly emotional time and will trigger healing regarding our home lives bringing us to new levels of appreciation and understanding with those who mean the most to us. Mercury in Aquarius retrogrades on the 11th, a good time for reevaluating how you work and cooperate with others. The Sun enters Aquarius on the 19th. Mercury moves back into Capricorn on the 21st, this will create a sense of “reality check” and have us looking at the practicality of how we are living and planning for the future. The New Moon in Aquarius on the 26th is a solar eclipse that links back to last August 1st’s solar eclipse in Leo. Eclipses are windows of opportunity for change. Reevaluate what you have learned since then and whether you have the levels of freedom and autonomy you desire in your life or not. With so much Aquarius energy we will be learning about detachment and neutrality over the next six months, it is best to focus on the greater good for all involved in a situation rather than merely taking your own desires into consideration. A Moon Wobble on the 29th will be felt from the 20th on, emotions can be erratic but this is a great time to work on mutual understanding in relationships, we can experience breakthroughs in communication and new levels of agreement now.
Aries March 21st - April 20th
Career matters will be on your mind now, you want to progress and may feel frustrated or held back. Take the time to look at the big picture before taking action, it is better to contemplate and feel certain rather than being impulsive at this time. The Full Moon in Cancer can cause some emotional upheaval for you, think before speaking and watch your temper. Along with Mercury getting ready to take it station and go retrograde, it may be best to lay low and nurture yourself rather than starting anything new at this time. The Eclipse will bring you more neutrality and calm your emotional strife; you will find it easier to be objective and willing to consider other people’s points of view if you relax and listen.
Taurus April 21st - May 20th
A strong time for setting intentions and making plans for the New Year. Your health and personal well being are highlighted right now, the resolutions you make to take better care of yourself will be supported; your will power will be strong if you set your mind to it. With Venus your ruling planet in intuitive Pisces you will want to spend time with friends and may feel more social than usual. Jupiter enters your solar house of career and empowers your goals and ambitions. The Cancer Full Moon highlights communications make your feelings known to those most important to you. The New Moon and Eclipse in Aquarius will challenge you to go in new directions with your work. If you have considered expanding your education or learning something new this is a good time to try what has seemed to be beyond your reach.
Gemini May 21st - June 21st
Money matters will be on your mind, best to keep your finances current and make solid plans for the future. By keeping your thinking realistic you can work to get ahead and free yourself from debt. Mercury your ruling planet in Aquarius will bring lots of innovative thoughts your way, this retrograde period will not be a particularly difficult one for you if you plan ahead and do research on your plans rather than starting new things before Mercury goes direct. Make informed choices and decisions rather than moving forward impulsively. Don’t let an overload of information deter you from your true goals. The Full Moon can be a trying time for you emotionally; there could be disagreements with a mate or partner regarding financial concerns. The New Moon and Eclipse will trigger new levels of communication; stay focused to get your point across now.
Cancer June 22nd - July 22nd
Relationships and partnerships will be the focus for you this month as a powerful Full Moon in your sign makes you express how you really feel. You will get the best results by being attentive to your mate but let other people take responsibility for them self instead of always being the nurturer and problem solver. You will find it best to take a step back and become more healthily selfish; your own health and well being needs to become more of a priority for you now. Curbing co dependence will bring the results you seek and Mercury retrograde can create misunderstandings, so choose your words wisely as you state and maintain your independence. Wait until next month before signing contracts or making any important financial decisions.
Leo July 23rd - August 22nd
Your work and health routines will be on your mind as the New Year begins. You long for new directions and want to innovate to break out of the rut you may have found yourself in. The New Moon in Aquarius amplifies the energies you set into motion around your birthday this past year, you want to see measurable results now and may feel frustrated by the inertia you have been feeling. You are tired of feeling blocked and want to take action for positive forward movement now. Stay on task with your personal goals for best results now and don’t get involved in other people’s drama. Organization and efficiency will help you to create order out of the disarray, this is a time to set intentions and move forward by focusing on what means the most to you now.
Virgo August 23rd - September 22nd
This could be a very productive time for you as Mercury your ruling planet transits your solar house of romance and creativity. You may find a new level of understanding with those closest to you and find there is more cooperation in your home and work life due to a more relaxed point of view. You long to feel enthusiasm and zest for living rather than the depression or even despair that may have been affecting you. As you evaluate what you want to change you will set a new plan in motion that you can adhere to and manifest. The Full Moon will be an emotional time but direct communication rather than getting angry over feeling misunderstood will bring you better results than holding on to unexpressed resentment. The Aquarius eclipse will trigger you to make positive changes and seek new direction in your life.
Libra September 23rd - October 23rd
Home and family will be highlighted for you in January, take the time for your loved ones and for creating the beauty and order you long for in your home. This is a good time for redecorating projects but start them at the beginning of the month rather than waiting until after Mercury goes retrograde. Safeguard your finances and come up with a new budget to help you pay off debts and create more of a sense of security. Misunderstandings could occur around the sensitive Full Moon in Cancer, think before speaking as you may get the wrong impression from someone close to you and blow a situation out of proportion due to not fully listening to the other person’s side of the story. You will feel strongly independent and confident with the New Moon in Aquarius; utilize this energy to help you create what you desire most.
Scorpio October 24th - November 21st
This will be a busy and very active month for you, the potential of unexpected travel could present itself out of the blue, make sure this what you want to do and don’t overextend yourself with money or your time and energy. Be flexible and ready to go with the flow but with Mercury going retrograde be sure to double check the details pertaining to travel or any business dealings. The Full Moon in Cancer trines your Sun and could bring an emotional catharsis, best to express your feelings rather than holding on to resentment over a misunderstanding. You achieve the greatest success by making definite commitments and remaining flexible when it comes to accommodating the needs of others. Be careful with finances, the New Moon and eclipse could bring changes at home, be willing to compromise for best results now.
Sagittarius November 22nd - December 21st
Money and finances take center stage; it is time to get serious about manifesting your goals. You do tend to want to accomplish what seems impossible to others. You also rely heavily on your luck and with Jupiter your ruling planet moving into Aquarius, you will come up with innovative ideas that will help you move forward with what you want to manifest. You may feel some conflict over your responsibilities and innate desire for freedom but will choose to do the right thing and live up to your promises no matter how grandiose. Trust your intuition around the Full Moon, you will find it is even stronger than usual. Jupiter conjunct the New Moon and eclipse will bring positive changes as you come up with innovative ways to deliver what you have promised to others. Do the research to back up your intentions for best results.
Capricorn December 22nd - January 19th
Pluto in your sign continues to challenge you as you feel compelled to face what needs to shift or change in your life to create more security and happiness. Your hard work will pay off but you will surely be transformed so make wise choices about what you decide to put your energy in to. Your personal magnetism is strong now with energetic Mars in your sign; this is also a great time to make a commitment to your goals regarding health, diet and exercise. You feel better when there is order in your life and want to get and remain organized as the energy of chaos feels very draining. The Full Moon in Cancer will be a touchy time for you, think before speaking as the tendency to be sarcastic could create big miscommunications and misunderstandings.
Aquarius January 20th - February 18th
You want control over your life and destiny and to go in a fresh new direction. Jupiter in your sign will empower you and give you a sense of optimism and hopefulness that has been missing for quite a while. The New Moon in your sign with a powerful eclipse has you rewriting the script and wanting to break away from the status quo. Old emotional wounds can heal this month, the burden of resentment has become too much and you want to start over without feeling stuck in the past. Self analysis will assist you with seeing what you need to release and what would make you happier if you brought new energy into your life. Attend to any health issues that may come up for you now, ignoring something that is minor could create problems, better to make changes now than to be sorry later.
Pisces February 19th - March 20th
Friends and family will be the focus as you become more social. Venus in your sign makes you philosophical; this could be a time of spiritual awakening or revelations. It is best to end associations that seem to waste your energy, choose wisely as to who you associate with. Uranus in your sign continues to oppose Saturn throughout most of this month, watch your temper and get the full story before expressing anger. The potential for misunderstandings is high around the Full Moon, if things feel too intense for you, its best to take it easy and spend some time alone. This is not the time to take financial risks or get involved in half baked schemes or ideas. The New Moon in Aquarius conjunct Jupiter brings you fresh perspective and new goals. Tension will be released and you will feel optimism and hope that has eluded you for months.

AZALEANS
I have seen the shape of shapes to come;
Your children's children's children's children.
No more clothes on skin on flesh on bones;
No more buttons or zips or threads or fluff;
Our happy progeny will sculpt themselves.
Many will be exoskeletal human crabs,
Pink and hard, eight limbed, and periscoped;
More varieties of digit, pincer and extension
Than a Swiss army knife;
All vital parts well carapaced.Behold the blessed biotificers
Immune from brutal blow or bruise.
Sometime soon, for science clients,
Body shops will sell real bodies,
Florists will offer flowery filters
Transmuting noxious fumes into scented breaths. Our kids will transplant orchids,
Tendrils wrapped up their nostrils,
Petals growing out their cheeks
Eraserhead-foreshadowed chicks, and
Flowerheaded flower people
To colonise our canvass, Mars,
And so get back to The Garden.Years from now, sipping molo on Berlin’s Ku-damm,
Tails in mobile water tanks, mermaids
Will turn no heads, and unicorns
In jeans will wing it cross ‘Stanbul’s Hippodrome
To watch the equine yahoos up against cro-magnon houhynyms
An overdue equine equity un-evening down the score,
As thoroughbreds bet on yuman races,
And centaurs sit in senators’ seatsThe Valley of the Kings by Karnak,
The jazz tavern in Star Wars 1,
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe;
All these once and future forms I saw,
And I wondered how this vast
Profusion plays and works.Richard Burton’s voice replied in stern Homeric reel:-
Man still part of Nature is and can't Her laws repeal
No matter how you splice the genes and tear the species' seal.
And you are like a 5 year old who just learnt to read
A few words of the language that you will grow to need.

Chayya ::: One of the Internet's top mediums (channelers). Her ability to communicate with those who have
passed is astounding. She can be found working at Psychic Access.
Each month, Chayya randomly selects a question submitted from our many subscribers and provides an in-depth answer. To submit a question for possible inclusion in our newsletter, just click on "Submit Question" above. We regret that only the selected question can be answered.
Dear Chayya,
I wondered if either my gran or dad has any messages for me. My gran visits me in dreams but hasn’t done so lately and I've never received any messages from my dad. My dad had planned for me and his grandchild to go across to Australia to visit him but sadly he passed away before we were due to visit him. My gran and I were very close, we were like best friends and I miss her dearly.
Thank you
Mellisa
Dear Mellisa,
I would love to answer this question for you. However this is not something I can do without a name to connect to. Generally when I do a channeling to connect with one from the other side I take the first name and get verifiable information from that person before I will talk to them. For this also I would need to have you present either on the phone or in a chat reading at Psychic Access. There are many spirits that would like to communicate with loved ones and when I do open that door I like to be sure it is one I need to speak to. I can tell you that there have been many times when your gran has tried to connect with you that you have brushed off as coincidence or just not recognized that she has been there. Something I like to pass onto people in regards to accepting and recognizing contacts is that first and foremost you have to be accepting. You have to accept and trust. Say you are in the middle of a traffic jam and all of the sudden you start to smell apple pie baking. This may not be your imagination it is someone trying to connect with you. What I am saying here is that an out of the ordinary thing may happen to bring back a memory of a loved one that has passed and this is actually them connecting to you letting you know they are there. A song on the radio may make you think of a loved one, they have sent you that song that thought. Little things we take for granted are actually signs from our loved ones that often go unnoticed because we are looking for a connectable incident happening. Society has made us believe that connections are major things in our lives that we are certain not to miss. This is untrue. The movies show us this when in actuality it is the little things. Perhaps you feel a cold touch or smell a familiar smell, hear a familiar song or sound or see a familiar sight that invokes a memory. There are true and believable connections and contacts from our loved ones. I am sorry I was not able to answer your question without the correct information, but I do hope that this has given you a sense of something good to look forward to. I do hear that there is something about bells, perhaps church bells that someone wants you to know? Please do not hesitate to contact me and please let me know if this was any help to you or if you have a question about what I have said here.
Light and love to you,
Chayya
Each month the lovely and most talented Salome imparts some Shamanic wisdom and teachings upon us and shares some
interesting personal tidbits. Salome was a reader on Psychic Web for many years and can now be found on
"Psychic Access" where she is one of the top readers.
We hope you enjoy Shaman's Corner.
Shamans will tell you the easiest form of healing is a Power Animal Retrieval. The first order of business when people come to me for healing of any kind is for me to ask them, do you know your power animal? If they say no, they soon learn how to call it to themselves or we do a retrieval if they wish.
So what is a Power Animal Retrieval? In fact, what really is the true purpose of having a power or spirit animal anyway? You can call it spirit animal or power animal, no difference. A totem animal is not the same thing as our power animal even though tons of teachers would have us believe it is. Not so.
We're going to get into just really basic purposes of this animal entity who is supposed to be with us throughout our lives. The first purpose is so you both benefit. The animal in spirit vibration to accompany you and attach to your physical body. Why? For strength, energy, protection, confidence, good health. There is a spiritual and physical wisdom shared by both parties like no other relationship.
Through normal living and some heavy-duty stressors, our power animal can become dislodged or detached and yes, wander off. The truly wonderful part is that every one who has power animal loss of any kind can get theirs back very easily. All you really need to do for the process to begin is to desire to have yours back snug and secure with you. It wants to be with you, and vice versa.
Power Animal Retrievals are like reunions. An old friend has been found. A trusted friend has returned, security and happiness is felt. Retrieval brings inner knowledge. We are awakened and we find we always knew 'it' was there. We had just become separated for a time. That was then, but this is now. After this, we only have to think of our power animal and it comes back. This is actually fact. When you seek the help of a shaman, this is a process done only once. After that, the more you get to know your power animal, the easier it is to work with it. In short, if you're feeling like you need help, call it and it will come after you have done a retrieval. Yes, close your bedroom door and talk to your power animal. I won't tell if you don't. Yes, it is that easy once you've found yours.
We are all born with a baby power animal that accompanies us to planet Earth. We get the benefit of the animal's survival instincts, and in turn, our power animal gets to ride along with us and see how humans interact. This is a Very win-win situation. You have need of it's keen instincts, and it benefits from learning more about what it means to be human. This can be, to some, a disconcerting approach, but there are indeed cycles and stages of development for every living creation. For our purposes, just know this is one relationship where co-dependant is viewed as being okay. You and your power or spirit animal have a contract going, and it's best worked in tandem.
At around age 8, the baby power animal is exchanged for a larger one, usually of the same species, which can then grow with the child to adulthood. Sometimes there is an exchange for a completely different animal. It all depends on the person's life work and tasks. There is nothing wrong with this and it is quite normal. There are lifetimes when we need the energy of one type for the first 8 years and then the companionship and energy of a different power animal after that. It's neither good, nor bad, it just is.
Mention the words power animal and most people picture a shaman dressed in bear, or wolf skins and hopping around doing his power animal dance, or as some call it, "dancing your animal."
Picture, if you will, my power animal, which is a cheetah, attached to me at my adrenals and going up and over my head, holding itself comfortably and secure along my back. It is able to observe and give aid, when needed, by me. Do I nurture this relationship? You bet I do. How? By acknowledging it and having a care it's able to assist you. You get tired and stressed, it also feels this. Nurture you, and be aware and intent on nurturing your power animal. Life will start to feel better.
It's perfect really, a one two punch of adrenelin and into action surges our power animal; able to help us get through, survive. The stronger we feel, the more secure we feel, the more we use our energy most effectively to manage our lives. Long, long ago, a human could not survive long without their power animal. Most ancient tribes recognized this and performed rituals accordingly to help each individual manage and stay strong. If not, then they eventually perished.
You and your power animal are quite a duo. Working together, you are able to move with stealth, and grace when needed. Yes a mouse can move quite gracefully when required. Not all mice are timid either. A fact you come to know if your power animal is a mouse.
Read almost any book on power animals and you may come away convinced yours must either be a wolf, bear, cougar, tiger or something most glorious. In fact, you can have a fly for a power animal, a porpoise, a moose, a gazelle, a gorilla. You get the drift. Sometimes when a power animal retrieval is done, a person can be a bit suprised at first, but not for long and not that much. Our instinct is inherent within us to know what our power animal is.
So, how easy is it to bring one's power animal back and have it fit securely in place. Very easy, so it might seem nonsense to have a shaman help you with a Power Animal Retrieval. All you really need to do is ask your power animal to appear and within a few days it will appear in some form, if not immediately come into your mind when you ask. The difference between self retrieval and one done by a shaman is the effect is more immediate with the latter and sticks. Salome's term for a successful Power Animal Retrieval is... it stuck.
Is it possible to do a Power Animal Retrieval in a very short period of time, say minutes? Yes it is, if done by a shaman. A good way to view this is if you wish to feel better, or even happier, having a Power Animal Retrieval done will help immensely towards allowing you to get ahead in your life and feel as if you do have the strength to manage life's events as they arise.
You can find a lot of books and information out there on this subject. Very few, if any, will have the information as outlined above about power animals. How many do we have? One, only one. We are born with a baby one which is exchanged at 8 years old, the age of reckoning. We can have many different animal spirits come help us during our lives but our power animal is unique for us and has a special function in our lives.
Lastly, I will leave you with this knowledge: Your power animal can also come from another planet, star, galaxy, universe, or it can be one that is now extinct to this planet and no examples of it are living in the physical plane of Earth. Food for thought and pretty fantastic to think about!
Do study up on power animals. One of the best ways to court yours and encourage it to work with you is to be interested in learning more about your special relationship with it.
See you next month at Shaman's Corner.

Each month, we randomly select, from among the e-mails received from you, one person to be featured in our
prayer circle. All we need from you is a paragraph or two about the person--and yes it can be
yourself--along with his/her name, age and place of residence. Use the "Submit Request" link above.
Oh, and don't think that only illnesses are worthy of prayers. It can be a strong desire, a job you're anxiously hoping for, or anything that keeps you
up nights wishing on the stars. You'll be amazed just how potent the power of prayer really is.
For Sandy's Partner
My prayer request is for my partner, he has been off work for 3 years, due to a back problem, he's had an operation which was successful, but he is still in a lot of pain. He's just been told that he could be diabetic as well! I'm praying that he will be free from pain, or at least most of it - and also that the tests for the diabetes come back negative. He really wants to get back to work, but we don't know if he is able to do his job anymore. It would help us a great deal to know others are praying for him too, he is getting quite depressed about the whole thing now, and of course he doesn't get any money from work, so it's hitting us very hard in more ways than one. If he didn't have the pain, then the other problems wouldn't be there!
Thank you all for your support and prayers.
Sandy
